I posted photographs of two Eastern Red Columbines earlier this year and I thought I would post the last one in the trio of photographs that I took at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin last spring. Columbines are among my favorite flowers. My all-time favorite columbine is the Longspur Columbine<\/a> that I photographed in Big Bend National Park in April of this year. The shape of these flowers is different than any other and I really enjoy looking at them and studying their details. Macrophotography has opened up a new world for me.<\/p>\n

Eastern Red Columbine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5D Mark III<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 100mm f\/2.8L Macro Lens<\/a>. The camera was set on Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/8, shutter speed at 1\/30th of a second and the ISO set at 800. I used a tripod for stability and my\u00a0Kirk Focusing Rail<\/a>\u00a0to obtain 11 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and\u00a0the focus stacking technique. I then finalized the image in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
