{"id":13050,"date":"2017-10-20T04:00:23","date_gmt":"2017-10-20T09:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/?p=13050"},"modified":"2020-12-21T16:56:20","modified_gmt":"2020-12-21T22:56:20","slug":"gold-point-saloon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/2017\/10\/gold-point-saloon\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Point Saloon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I arrived in Gold Point, Nevada for a night photography workshop, we were instructed to meet in the Gold Point Saloon for our lectures. It was the only building in the famous ghost town where a group of people could meet. Perhaps it was that way in the old mining days. We arranged our chars in front of the stage and I was constantly distracted by the number of objects on the stage, so as soon as our class was over, I grabbed my camera and photographed the scene. The saloon is open most days so I recommend checking out all the historic items they have collected there.<\/p>\n<p>In May, 1908 a post office was established in Gold Point and before long, the residents organized a chamber of commerce and numerous businesses sprouted up, including as many as 13 saloons. The camera was set on\u00a0Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/8, shutter speed at 1.3 seconds and the ISO set at 5000.
