A miner’s cabin near Gold Point, Nevada. I photographed this cabin while on a night photography workshop in the area.\u00a0One thing that’s great about this photograph is the presence of the star cluster\u00a0Pleiades (aka, Seven Sisters or M45) just above the cabin. I didn’t realize the cluster was there until I processed the photo. One of the challenges of the photo is what to do with the bush in the foreground. So, I figured I would just highlight it. I used a tea light to make it look like it was on fire.<\/p>\n

Pleiades is visible from virtually every place on Earth. It can be seen from as far north as the North Pole, and farther south than the southernmost tip of South America.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Sony A7R II<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Sony FE 16-35mm f\/2.8 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 16mm. The camera was set on\u00a0Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/4, shutter speed at 20 seconds and the ISO set at 4000. I used a tripod for this photo. I lit the inside of the cabin with a couple of strings of fairy lights. The outside of the cabin was lit by the moon. The bush was lit with a tea light. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
