Another colorful and mostly cloudless sunset on the Rio Grande in the Big Bend Ranch State Park area. This photo was taken just off the scenic pull-off on highway 170 in an area we call “Big Hill”, about 14 miles west of Lajitas, TX. It was a very hot day so I setup my camera and waited in the shade of a large boulder until the sun was about to set. I liked this composition because of the prickly pear in the foreground and the way the Rio Grande served as a leading line to the setting sun. The river was very high during this trip. According to the locals it was less due to local rains and more due to New Mexico releasing more water than normal.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5DS<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 16-35mm f\/4 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 20mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/14, shutter speed at 1\/60th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod\u00a0for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
