While visiting family in Buffalo, NY, I took some time during a rainy day to make a trip to the central part of the state. The area around the “Finger Lakes” is quite beautiful. Tall trees, green pastures, farmlands, and lakefront properties makes for great landscape photography. Nestled in all of this beauty is the Taughannock Falls State Park. I found a small set of waterfalls near the parking lot by the trail head that leads to the main Taughannock waterfall. I decided to photograph the small waterfall on the way back from my hike to the waterfall.\u00a0It began raining half way through my 1.5-mile hike. My camera gear and I were soaked which made the shooting conditions worse. But I persisted, I cleaned the lens between shots and I completed my photographs successfully. One of the advantages of photographing waterfalls in the rain is that you get a lot of water. The downside is that you really have to concentrate to make sure all of the settings are correct. I wished I had gone back and picked up my polarizing\u00a0filter for this shot. It would have reduced the glare on top of the water and made for a better photograph. I’ll remember that next time…<\/p>\n

Taughannock Falls State Park<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Sony A7R II<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Sony FE 16-35mm f\/4 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 33 mm. The camera was set on\u00a0Manual Mode\u00a0with the aperture set at f\/11, shutter speed at 2 seconds and the ISO set at 50. I used a tripod for stability and my Syrp neutral density filter set on 5. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
