This is probably the best specimen of this species I have ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>Rainbow Cacti\u00a0are primarily\u00a0found on rocky slopes of arid mountains, on the desert floor, or in desert grasslands. They are distributed throughout Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. It occurs in every county of Texas&#8217;s Trans-Pecos region except for Val Verde. The camera was set on Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/8, shutter speed at 1\/250th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/glossary\/kirk-fr-2-focusing-rail\/\">Kirk Focusing Rail<\/a>\u00a0to obtain 10 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and\u00a0the focus stacking technique. I then finalized the image in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n<p>Click on the photo to enlarge it.
