Port Aransas is located about 20 miles south of Rockport. It&#8217;s a short drive which includes a ride across the channel on a ferry. I was traveling on my Harley Trike and\u00a0the ride on the ferry was a great experience. When the ferry landed I made my way to the\u00a0Port Aransas Nature Preserve and then onto the\u00a0Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center where I spent about an hour photographing birds along\u00a0the raised boardwalk. One of the birds I came across was a\u00a0Pied-billed Grebe. At first I though it was a baby but in fact it was\u00a0an adult.<\/p>\n<p>Pied-billed Grebes are fairly poor fliers and typically stay on the water. They can\u00a0trap water in their feathers, giving them great control over their buoyancy. They can sink deeply or stay just at or below the surface, exposing as much or as little of the body as they wish. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f\/8, shutter speed at 1\/320th of a second and the ISO set at 250.
