I photographed this Bull Elk just as he was coming out of the Madison River during my visit to the Yellowstone National Park last fall. The photograph was taken at first light and he was busy grazing and watching over his harem. The name of the herd is the Madison Elk Herd because they tend to stay along the Madison River\u00a0throughout the winter. I wrote about the Madison Elk<\/a> during a post last October.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5DS<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 100-400mm f\/4.5-5.6 II Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 400mm. I used a\u00a0tripod for support. The camera was set on Aperture Priority\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/5.6, shutter speed at 1\/640th of a second and the ISO set at 400. This is a single image processed in Lightroom then finalized in Photoshop using Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
