{"id":11136,"date":"2017-01-21T04:00:24","date_gmt":"2017-01-21T10:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/?p=11136"},"modified":"2017-01-21T21:18:49","modified_gmt":"2017-01-22T03:18:49","slug":"excelsior-geyser-crater","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/2017\/01\/excelsior-geyser-crater\/","title":{"rendered":"Excelsior Geyser Crater"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Excelsior Geyser Crater is located down the boardwalk from the <a href=\"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/2016\/10\/grand-prismatic-spring\/\">Grand Prismatic Spring<\/a>. Although not as colorful as the Grand Prismatic Spring, the Excelsior is phenomenal nonetheless. The geyser discharges about 4,500 gallons of 200-degree water per minute directly into the Firehole River (off to the left side of the frame).<\/p>\n<p>The geyser was active in the late 19th century and it erupted frequently. Most eruptions were about 100 feet high and some exceeded 300 feet in height. The camera was set on Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/16, shutter speed at 1\/10th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a sturdy tripod to create a solid foundation and my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/glossary\/kirk-lrp-1-long-rail\/\">Kirk Long Rail<\/a>\u00a0to avoid Parallax Errors on the panorama. I captured eight\u00a0images and stitched them together into one image using Lightroom.
