A friend of mine had some free time so we made a day trip to photograph\u00a0the Hamilton Pool waterfall. I have photographed the waterfall from afar and decided to take a closeup\u00a0photograph. The skies were cloudy grey without detail so eliminating the sky was a\u00a0good option. This also allowed me to get a closer view of the plants, lichen and moss growing in and around the grotto. We arrived at 9:00 AM, just as the park opened. There were few people there. Larger crowds began arriving around 10:00 AM. I got lucky and was able to capture this crowd-free photograph of the waterfall.<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve used to be open to the public to come and go as they please. Starting last year, however, the county started limiting entrance to the park and you now must make a reservation. Thankfully, reservations are only needed from May through September. The rest of the year is on a first come, first served basis. Getting there early is a must if you want to photograph the scene without people. I also recommend you go on a very cold day. The camera was set on\u00a0Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/11, shutter speed at 1.3\u00a0seconds and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and a circular polarizer to reduce the glare on the water. This is a single image processed in Lightroom.
