Merry Christmas!<\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n

Yellowstone Bison<\/strong>: Yellowstone is the only place in the United States where bison have lived continuously since prehistoric times.\u00a0Yellowstone bison are exceptional because they comprise the nation\u2019s largest bison population on public land.<\/p>\n

I photographed this Yellowstone Bison during my trip to the Grand Teton National Park last fall. I knew\u00a0the moment I photographed this bison that it would be my Christmas post. In fact, there were dozens of people that stopped along the road to photograph this bison. Many of the mentioned the same thing. I’m guessing that he was rubbing up against a pine tree when a branch lodged in\u00a0his horn. He walked around quite a while with the branch lodged in this manner as photographers clicked away.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 7D Mark II<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 100-400mm f\/4.5-5.6 II Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 312mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f\/7.1, shutter speed at 1\/125th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
