I decided to take advantage of this rare event and planned a hike\u00a0to the top of the Pennybacker Bridge Overlook\u00a0in northwest Austin\u00a0to see if I could photograph the full moon along with some of the scenery along the Colorado river. I met a friend about an hour before sunrise (90 minutes before moonset). We hiked up the hill and setup our gear on a ledge. This was one of my test shots to make sure that my lens was properly configured and that the images were sharp. It was a bit hazy but I was able to get rid of most of the haze in Lightroom.<\/p>\n<p>It seems to me that every month is the &#8220;last supermoon&#8221; for a few decades only to have yet another super moon four weeks later. I guess the term full moon no longer carries enough drama so the supermoon is the new label. Kind of like the Polar Vortex instead of a &#8220;Strong Cold Front&#8221;. \u00a0I guess we have to have new terms every now and then. The camera was set on Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/8, shutter speed at 1\/60th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. I captured a total of three\u00a0images which I stitched together into one image using Photoshop.
