I posted a photograph of a Passion Butterfly<\/a> earlier this week. This photograph of a\u00a0Passion Butterfly feeding on a flower was taken along the same Blue Creek Canyon Trail in Big Bend National Park. This angle really shows the details of the butterfly’s\u00a0face, antenna and the underside of its wing. Quite an interesting creature.<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed hiking the Blue Creek Canyon Trail. The creek forms one of the larger drainages of the Chisos Mountains. It starts at the wooded slopes south of Emory Peak and flows westward through a V-shaped canyon, reaching the desert lowlands after four miles and a 2,000 foot drop. The 5.5-mile trail runs all the way along the valley floor starting at Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive and links with the Laguna Meadows Trail high in the mountains. We only went about 1.5 miles. We did see a nice old cabin (part of an old ranch from the 1900’s) and a lot of very cool rock formations, interesting flowers and of course the butterflies.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 7D Mark II<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Sigma 17-50mm f\/2.8 Lens\u00a0set on 50mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f\/8, shutter speed at 1\/640th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I\u00a0hand-held the camera. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
