Greetings fellow photography lovers. Long time no post. Sorry about that. Things have been much busier than I expected. I think my retired claim is now in danger… Now that spring is around the corner it’s time to get things moving again. I thought I would start this year’s flower photos with a Gray Golden Aster (at least that’s what I think it is) that I photographed during my last trip to Big Bend NP in the fall of 2018.
The Gray Golden Aster (Heterotheca canescens) is also known as Hoary False Goldenaster. It is a North American species of flowering plant in the aster family. It has been found in northern Mexico and in the Great Plains of the central United States.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 6D Mark II using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/2.8, shutter speed at 1/320th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my Kirk Focusing Rail to obtain 20 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and the focus stacking technique. I then finalized the image in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
