Fulton Beach Dock

Hurricane Harvey impacted nearly every piece of property in the Rockport/Fulton area. The private fishing docks that jet out into the gulf along Fulton Beach Road were no match for the mighty category 5 hurricane. The 2017 storm damaged almost every dock along the beach. Most have been rebuilt but many remain in their post-hurricane condition. Given the dismal weather conditions during my recent trip to the area, I decided to photograph this Fulton Beach Dock using a long exposure to smooth out the water and sky and to accentuate the mood of the day.

This image was taken with my Sony A7R IV using my Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens set on 23mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/11, shutter speed at 20 seconds, and the ISO set at 100. I used a 6-stop Lee filter to extend the exposure time and a Circular Polarizing Filter to minimize the glare. I also used a tripod for stability given the long exposure. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Silver Efex Pro.
