Lone Star Trail Scene

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to snowshoe a 5-mile hike along the Lone Star Trail in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park. The trail follows the Firehole River and that is where I encountered this scene. I imagined the beauty of the flower in this scene during the spring and summer while at the same time impressed by its contribution to this very serene landscape.

The Lone Star Trail is an easy hike from the trailhead located just southeast of the Old Faithful area along US Highway 191. It is groomed in the winter and offers a multitude of amazing scenes along the way. Snowshoes recommended.

This image was taken with my Sony A7R IV using my Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 Lens set on 272mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/14, shutter speed at 1/320th of a second, and the ISO set at 500. I hand-held the camera for this photo. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
