COVID has certainly impacted billions of lives around the globe. It has changed how we work, how we travel, and how we engage with our family and friends. For me, it also significantly impacted my number one hobby, photography. I have titled this photograph the “COVID-era Blackfoot Daisy” as it’s the last photograph I took prior to hanging up my photography gear for the “COVID season”. I’m looking forward to rekindling my hobby and posting more photos on my site in the days and months ahead.
I photographed this Blackfoot Daisy in my front yard in March 2020. The pandemic had just begun and I was not sure how it would impact our lives. Many of my popular photography locations were starting to shut down. So, I headed out to my front yard to photograph a few flowers. This was my favorite photo of that day. As I was photographing them, I thought about how unaware nature was of what was ahead and how it would continue on its natural path as it has done for millions of years. This too shall pass…
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 6D Mark II using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/2.8, shutter speed at 1/30th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my Kirk Focusing Rail to obtain 17 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and the focus stacking technique. I then finalized the image in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
