The Tangled Creek Forest is another one of my favorite photography locations in Yellowstone National Park. Located off of Grand Loop Road in the Lower Geyser Basin. The charred trees, combined with the pristine snow, makes this location a prime spot for photography groups visiting the park in the winter. The first time I photographed this area there was just enough sunlight to cast shadows onto the snow. This time it was a cloudy day and the photo is less dramatic.
Tangled Creek begins in the forest east of Firehole Lake then flows westward onto Hot Lake then across the Grand Look Road and continues in the same direction until it drains into the Firehole River. The Firehole River is one of the two tributaries to the Madison River which is famous for its wildlife.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/11, shutter speed at 1/40th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single photograph processed using Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
