Lensball

And now for something a little different. I am a sucker for photography gadgets and it’s no surprise that I bought a Lensball following a show-and-tell at one of the photography group meetings I attend. A friend of mine brought one to the meeting and, at first, I was not impressed. That changed when I considered some of the possibilities for my trip to Yellowstone National Park. So, I am glad I decided to buy one.

The photo below was one of my test shots. It was not the best environment or scene, but it was a good test, nonetheless. I had my wife hold the Lensball in her hand as we went down the road in the tour bus. I photographed the ball about 50 times and chose this one to edit. I had to do quite a bit of work in Photoshop and I think the outcome was worth the effort. I would like to hear your opinion and if you have any use cases that you think are good possibilities.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 100mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/125th of a second, and the ISO set at 250. I hand-held the camera. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
