Obsidian

Meet Obsidian.  Obsidian is a juvinile male gray wolf housed in the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, MT.  The center adopts wildlife that is incapable of survival in the wild. Obsidian, along with his siblings Bridger and Shasta, were born and captivity and moved to the center in 2019. Obsidian was named after the black volcanic glass that forms Obsidian Cliff in Yellowstone National Park. They are known as The Hoodoo Pack.

The Center is also home for other animals including Grizzly Bears, Otters, Hawks and Eagles. The facility is open all year and it is a favorite place to visit for many tourists in the area. I like visiting there the day before going into Yellowstone to photograph. A great way to test equipment and clothing.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 200mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/500th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
