La Cuesta Sunset

I’m still processing some of my photos from my trip to West Texas last spring. I ran across this long exposure photo of a La Cuesta Sunset. I chose to do this one in black and white using the Low Key photo processing technique. I thought it added quite a bit of mood to the scene.

As a reminder, you can get to La Cuesta off of highway 170 between Lajitas and Presidio. The road parallels the Rio Grande and there are quite a few turn-off spots that access the river. La Cuesta is one of the few with enough rocks to take interesting long-exposure photos.

Clock on this image to enlarge it. It’s best viewed that way.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 20 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/11, shutter speed at 3 seconds and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my Lee Filters to extend the exposure time. This is a single image processed using Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Silver Efex Pro.
