Sunrise on Balanced Rock

Big Bend National Park is known as one of the least visited national parks in the nation. That is starting to change. During my trip to park this spring, I noticed that the park is becoming more popular. When we arrived to photograph a sunrise on Balanced Rock there was a photographer setting up for photos. That has never happened before. Hopefully more visitors equals more funding and improvements. I have mentioned before that this location is one of my favorite locations in the park. The hike is great and the vistas are rewarding. I did some research and sought out this new vantage point. It turned out exactly as I planned. I love it when things work out this way.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/30th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed using Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
