Sunrise on Ernst Tinaja

The ride along Old Ore Road to Ernst Tinaja is long, narrow and rough at times. A four wheel drive vehicle is recommended. The hike from the trailhead to the feature is easy and filled with great geological formations. I have only visited this site twice and I am in awe of the layers of rock found within the narrow canyon. This location is also a great spot for wildflowers, especially the Yellow Rocknettle, which I have only found in this location.

I was planning on shooting the sunrise during this trip but I miss-calculated the time to arrive at the tinaja. The drive from Study Butte to the trailhead and the subsequent hike took longer than expected so I missed the great sunrise colors. That means I have to go back next time and try again…

Ernst Tinaja Sunrise

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/11, shutter speed at 1/5th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my Kirk Rail to avoid parallax errors. This is a series of six images brought together into a single image using Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
