A young Texas Gayfeather photographed at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center last week. As is the case with Texas Gayfeathers, there were many of them growing in a large batch. This one was one of the newest. Texas Gayfeathers can be very showy and I liked the simplicity that this one offered.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 6D Mark II using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/6.3, shutter speed at 1/100th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability and my Kirk Focusing Rail to obtain 12 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and the focus stacking technique. I then finalized the image in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.

Very nice! Like adding a few crunchy almonds to a bowl of creamy ice cream.
