White Gaura

A White Gaura (Oenothera lindheimeri) was photographed during my last trip to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. This time I did find a nice surprise in the way of a nymph hanging upside down from the flower. It’s always great to see what nature has to offer.

The White Gaura is a very nice plant but it’s not a showy plant. Some of the flowers remain closed while others are open. The flowers are also quite small. Good plant for dry climates.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 6D Mark II using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/5, shutter speed at 1/50th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my Kirk Focusing Rail to obtain 11 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and the focus stacking technique. I then finalized the image in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
