I photographed this Mealy Blue Sage Salvia farinacea) during my trip to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in April. The plants were just starting to bloom. I spotted this specimen which was somewhat isolated against a background of other like flowers.
The Mealy Blue Sage is an excellent plant for a flower bed, and is often planted in groupings to create an attractive mass of color. It is also a good plant for a rock garden.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 6D Mark II using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/6.3, shutter speed at 1/3rd of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my Kirk Focusing Rail to obtain 11 images which I brought together into one image using Zerene Stacker. I then finalized the image in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
