I finally made it out to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center to photograph some of the wonderful Texas Wildflowers. I was making my way around the grounds when I came across this Eastern Purple Coneflower with dewdrops on its petals.
The Eastern Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) is also known as hedgehog coneflower or purple coneflower. It is native to Eastern North America and is present in the wild to much of the eastern, southeastern, and midwestern United States. In indigenous medicine of the native American Indians, the plant was used externally for wounds, burns, and insect bites, chewing of roots for toothache and throat infections; the internal application was used for pain, cough, stomach cramps, and snake bites. Good thing to know if you happen to get lost in the wilderness…
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 6D Mark II using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/4.5, shutter speed at 1/50th of a second, and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my Kirk Focusing Rail to obtain 12 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and the focus stacking technique. I then finalized the image in Photoshop.
