Anemone Geyser

I was searching for locations to photograph the famous Old Faithful Geyser during my recent trip to Yellowstone National Park when I encountered the Anemone Geyser. I thought it would make a good foreground so I waited patiently for the next eruption of Old Faithful. Fortunately, Anemone was not erupting at the same time or I would have been soaked.

The Anemone Geyser, named after the Anemone flower, is located in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park. It resides just north of Old Faithful. The Anemone Geyser is actually two closely related geysers. The larger, known as Big Anemone is in the foreground and the other, Little Anemone is just beyond it. Both vents have a pale yellow color and shape similar to the flower.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV using my Canon EF 16-35 mm f/4 Lens set on 17mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/14, shutter speed at 1/200th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom then finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
