Sleeping Grey Wolf

My “Winter in Yellowstone” photography workshop starts today. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana where I photographed this sleeping Grey Wolf. This is a great place to see Grizzly Bears and Gray Wolfs in a protected environment.

The Center was opened in 1993 with three bears as the Grizzly Discovery Center. It was intended as a sanctuary for bears that were removed from the wild because they had become too familiar or aggressive with people. In 1995, the G.D.C was sold to a New York-based organization. A wolf exhibit and ten captive-born wolves were added to the center in 1996. In 2002, the center was renamed “Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center,”  I highly recommend visiting the Center if you happen to be in the area.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 248 mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/1000th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for support. This is a single image processed in Lightroom then finalized in Photoshop using Color Efex Pro.
