Fountain Paint Pot Trail

The Fountain Paint Pot Trail is another very popular area for people visiting the Lower Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park. There are quite a few features along the trail in addition to the famous Paint Pots. One of my favorite areas is the stream near the parking area. The trees are victims of the toxic conditions but they make for great landscape photography.

One of the interesting facts about this part of the Lower Geyser Basin is that it has all four of the hydro-thermal features found in the park (mud pots, geysers, hot springs, and fumaroles). You can see all of them by walking along the half-mile long boardwalk loop. While none of the geysers are as famous as Old Faithful, they erupt so frequently that you are almost guaranteed a great show on your short hike. Another highly recommended place to visit in the park.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/200th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. This is a series of four images merged together in Lightroom using the Panorama feature and then finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
