Ladder No 3

Ladder No 3 was sitting outside of the old Goldfield, Nevada fire department. I was scouting the location with my peers from the night photography workshop I was attending when I spotted the ladder truck. I noticed that the street lamp was positioned in the right spot to capture the texture of the building as well as the front of the truck. I struggled between processing it in color or black and white so I turned to Social Media to see what the people preferred. Color won out so I processed it in color. That said, there were quite a few people that liked both.

SLIDER: I created a slider so you could see the difference between the two. Click here to compare this image with the one in color.

A fire in 1923 completely destroyed the Main Street area of Goldfield, Nevada. About 25 blocks were affected. It is believed that a liquor still exploded and began the devastating fire. Many locals believe it was the result of a bootleggers feud. Goldfield would never be the same glorious town again.

This image was taken with my Sony A7R II using my Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens set on 29mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/13th of a second and the ISO set at 800. I used a tripod for this photo.  This is a series of three images (-3, 0, +3) brought together into a single image and processed in Lightroom. I completed it in Photoshop using Nik Silver Efex Pro.
