Beetle at the Car Forest

I photographed this VW Beetle at the Car Forest near Goldfield, Nevada during my recent trip to the area to attend a Night Photography workshop. We went to “The International Car Forest of the Last Church” during our last evening of the workshop. The Car Forest is a dream project of two Nevada artists. What began with one car with its nose buried in the sand expanded to more than 40 vehicles. Grafitti artists have used these vehicles as their canvas. As a result, the scene is ever-changing. I will post more photos of other vehicles in the days ahead. For now, this one was one of my favorites. Note the faint Milky Way on the left side of the frame. Natural and man-made light pollution prevented it from being a bit more prominent.

This image was taken with my Sony A7R II using my Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/5.6, shutter speed at 20 seconds and the ISO set at 3200. I used a tripod for this photo. I lit the inside of the car with some tea lights. The outside of the car was lit by the moon. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
