Eating 3468

I photographed this Bush Brown butterfly eating 3468 while visiting the Reiman Gardens located on the campus of the Iowa State University. What’s interesting is that I tried to find the corresponding fruit for this PLU (Price Look-up) code but could not find it. So, how is it that it would have a label that does not have a corresponding fruit associated with it?

Bush Brown butterflies (Bicyclus anynana) are primarily found in the woodland areas of Eastern Africa. The bush brown uses its eye spots as a defense against avian predators. I highly recommend visiting the Reiman Gardens if you visit this part of the state. They have a very diverse population of moths and butterflies.

This image was taken with my Sony A7R II using my Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 Lens set on 130 mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/60th of a second and the ISO set at 1600. I hand-held the camera for this photo. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
