I photographed the Ballycotton Lighthouse shortly after photographing the beach along the Ballycotton Cliffs that I posted yesterday. I found a bunch of colorful sea grasses growing along the Garryvoe Beach in County Cork, Ireland. The beach had some great foregrounds and I chose this one to highlight the lighthouse off in the distance.
The lighthouse, located on Ballycotton Island, is approximately 1.5 miles from the village. It was commissioned in 1851. The lighthouse was converted to electricity in 1975. It was operated by a group of keepers until 1992 when the lighthouse was automated and the keepers withdrawn. This is a familiar story across Ireland. Many lighthouses were built centuries ago but now operate automatically and continue to protect those at sea.
This image was taken with my Sony A7R II using my Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 19mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/13, shutter speed at 15 seconds and the ISO set at 50. I used a tripod for stability, a polarizer to eliminate some of the glare off of the ocean and the beach and my Syrp neutral density filter set on 5 to lengthen the exposure time. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.

Did you also take close-ups emphasizing the patterns in the green and tan things in the foreground?
