Keys Ranch Well

This photograph of the Keys Ranch well is another one from my recent trip to Joshua Tree National Park to attend a night photography workshop. The workshop leaders took us to Keys Ranch to photograph it at night. Access is very limited to the ranch and we were very lucky to have it to ourselves for the evening. Working as a group, we chose various features to photograph. One of the features was the water well that is on the property and provided water to the Keys family. I placed a string of LED lights inside the bucket to light up the bucket and the frame. I lit the water tank and the windmill with my Coast HP7R flashlight using a filter. The rest of the scene was lit by the moon.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 20mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/5.6, shutter speed at 20 seconds and the ISO set at 1600. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
