Skull Rock

My trip to Joshua Tree National Park came to an end yesterday. I was really impressed with the park and one of the most impressive things was the rock formations. Skull Rock is by far the most popular formation in the park. It is located just off the main road and it is a popular place for selfies. I arrived there early one morning last week to photograph the formation at sunrise. Unfortunately there were no clouds so I focused directly on the skull. The lighting helps define the “eye sockets”. Not the most artistic photo in my portfolio but interesting nonetheless.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 10 seconds and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom.

You can see my new gallery for Joshua Tree NP by clicking here. I will be adding more photos to the collection as I process and post them.
