Joshua Trees at Cap Rock

With my night photography workshop complete I decided to head out into the Joshua Tree National Park yesterday morning to photograph the Joshua Trees at Cap Rock during sunrise. I found this very nice specimen with Cap Rock in the background and waited for the sun to paint the rock with its golden colors. Being in a Joshua Tree Forest is amazing. I’ve always liked Yucca plants but Joshua Trees are definitely the king of the species. It took me a while to find the perfect composition for this tree but I’m very happy with the results.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 18mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/60th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.

You can see my new gallery for Joshua Tree NP by clicking here. I will be adding more photos to the collection as I process and post them.
