Hello everyone. I thought it time for another update on the website work. A lot has transpired since my last update. The code has been updated and is now setup so that it can be updated as new releases come out. The site has migrated to the new server platform and the speed has increased dramatically. For you tech nerds out there: the database now resides on the same server as the code (big improvement), I/O capacity has improved tremendously (more memory, more processors, etc.), content has been optimized (e.g. gallery load times) and website footprint has been reduced (e.g. less pages). As a result, you should see a huge improvement in speed.
One big change you will notice is in the new galleries. They are now faster and contain much more information than before. Many of you have asked that I put more information in the photo carousel. You will now see the title of the photo, a brief description and the metadata associated with the photo. You can flip through the photos using your cursor keys or by using the arrows or, if you are on a mobile device, swiping left and right. The gallery below is a good example of what I’m talking about.
My next step is to work on content. I’m in the process of reviewing all the content on the site, fixing broken links and correcting any errors. Thanks again for your patience while I do all of this. It has been way more work than I expected. Please drop me a note or comment below if you see something that needs to be fixed.
