I’m back home and I now have some time to edit the photos from my trip to the Big Bend area. One of the new places we visited was the Hoodoo Trail in the Big Bend Ranch State Park. The park is not as well organized as the national park but it’s very rich in features. The park is huge so so metes you have to drive long distances to get to those locations. The Hoodoo Trail was relatively close and it was very rewarding. I really liked hiking around them and admiring nature’s work.
For this shot I stood in the river, lowered my tripod and waited for the sun to rise above the notch on the right side of the hoodoo. I quickly snapped a couple of photos before the scene changed. Clouds would have helped but I’m happy with the results. I plan on going back to this location during my next trip to the area.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/14, shutter speed at 1/25th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.

Great shot (and processing, too) from a somewhat hazardous location. As someone who was also there I can attest to the difficulty of setting up in the river amongst the round rocks.
