Hello everyone. I am returning today from my spring trip to Big Bend National Park with my photography group. Our trip this season was a bit different from our “regular” trip to the park as we spent much less time in the National Park and much more time in the Big Bend Ranch State Park and the surrounding area. I captured this photograph of a Feather Dalea (Dalea formosa) while on a scouting trip in the desert north of Terlingua, TX, in a region is called “Agua Fria”. We spent quite a bit of time there photographing flowers and checking out the amazing geological formations. Some of the flowers we found were unique. I look forward to returning to this area to photograph the features as well as the wildflowers found there.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/5.6, shutter speed at 1/80th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my Kirk Focusing Rail to obtain 16 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and the focus stacking technique. I then finalized the image in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
