Big Hill Sunrise Panorama

I photographed this Big Hill Sunrise Panorama from a viewpoint commonly labeled “Big Hill”. This location is both a sunrise and a sunset location and is located about 26 miles west of the town of Terlingua, TX. We like this location because it is one of the highest vantage points in the area and, as a result, the views are magnificent. The wind was blowing quite hard the morning I took this photograph and it was another near cloudless sky. Two things you don’t want as a landscape photographer, but very typical for our trips to the area. The clouds we did have messed up my starburst a bit. Some day I will get a nice photograph from this vantage point with nice clouds and no wind…

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/14, shutter speed at 1/15th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. I captured six images and brought them together into one image using Lightroom’s panorama feature. I then copped it down to this size and finalized it in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
