Texas Bluebonnets

It has been two weeks since I paused my daily posts to work on my website. I miss posting daily and I have not stopped photographing. I have now accumulated a backlog of photographs so I thought it would be a good idea to post one every now and then. This photograph was taken last weekend at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. It was a rainy day so the conditions were not ideal. Fortunately, there were many Texas Wildflowers to choose from and I chose this bunch of Texas Bluebonnets because I liked the composition against the dead grass in the background. A symbol that spring has sprung and what has passed will be new again.

Website Update: The hosting provider that I use gave me a 7-10 day business day window to migrate my site to the new servers. As of this writing, that has not occurred. When it does, I will need to spend some time debugging and testing. If the new servers are faster (which they said they would be) I will complete the migration process and post on a more regular basis. For now, I am standing by waiting…

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/80th of a second and the ISO set at 1600.  I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Photoshop and then completed it in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.

    1. Hi Rick. Thanks for the comment. It was dark and rainy so I needed 1600 just to get 1/80th. The winds were low but not perfectly calm.
