Sunset Photographer

I prefer to arrive early at the location where I’m going to photograph a sunrise or sunset to make sure I have everything in place for the event. It seems that every time someone or something comes into the scene right as the event is unfolding. This was the case when I was at Howard Murph Memorial Park in Rockport, TX a couple weeks ago. I arrived at the park about 45 minutes before sunset. I walked around looking for the right vantage point and I setup my equipment and waited for the event to unfold when an elderly couple came into the park. They walked around for a bit and then he decided to photograph the sunset and stood in my field of view. So, I figured this would be a good opportunity for a photograph with a story. However, I was not able to chat with the couple as they left right after they photographed the sunset. I was still able to capture the photo that I was after and I now have a good memory of the sunset photographer.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/14, shutter speed at 1/5th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
