I photographed this Bull Elk just as he was coming out of the Madison River during my visit to the Yellowstone National Park last fall. The photograph was taken at first light and he was busy grazing and watching over his harem. The name of the herd is the Madison Elk Herd because they tend to stay along the Madison River throughout the winter. I wrote about the Madison Elk during a post last October.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 400mm. I used a tripod for support. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/5.6, shutter speed at 1/640th of a second and the ISO set at 400. This is a single image processed in Lightroom then finalized in Photoshop using Color Efex Pro.
