Lichen Stump

Last month I posted a photograph of Wolf Lichen growing on some dead pine tree branches. I spotted this Wolf Lichen (Letharia vulpina) growing on a stump just down the path from where I captured the other photo. Wolf Lichen was prevalent in the Artist Point area of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. I was quite impressed with the large number of clusters attached to dead pine trees. I was also impressed with the brilliant green, reflective color. I had a difficult time post processing these photos as the green seemed very vibrant.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 400mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/50th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for support. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
