Elk Cow

I photographed this Elk Cow along the Madison River in Yellowstone National Park during my visit to the park earlier this fall. Most everyone was there to photograph the Bull Elk that I wrote about last week but I thought this cow was quite interesting and she was very curious what I was doing. I kept an eye on the Bull Elk to make sure he did not come after me for photographing one of his cows.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 400mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/400th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
