Turk’s Cap

This is another macro image taken in my studio with my white box. This time I photographed a Turk’s Cap (Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii) that was growing in between some hedges in the front yard. I clipped one of the flowers and took it into my studio to photograph the pistil details. I often marvel at the details that I see when nature is magnified.

MACRO CHALLENGE REMINDER: Are you curious what every-day items look like under high magnification? If you are, then drop me a note with a suggested subject to photograph through the Contact Me page or leave a comment below and I will do my best to photograph them and post them here in future blog posts.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/11, shutter speed at 1/6th of a second and the ISO set at 100. This image is comprised six focus stacked images captured in my light box using three LED lights. I used Helicon Focus to put together the image. I then finished the image in Lightroom using Nik Color Efex Pro.
