Another Painted Bunting

It was a very busy weekend so I thought I would post a photograph of another Painted Bunting captured during one of my trips to Pedernales Falls State Park last June. The Painted Bunting is by far one of my favorite birds. The colors (colours for the English V1.0 speakers) are amazing. I have mentioned before that this bird is very shy and skittish so getting one in a great pose is quite a task. I have often waited for long periods of time only to see one come and go in a flash. This one happened to stick around for a bit which was very unusual.

Some “birders” are not fans of bird blinds. As a bird photographer, I love them. It sure makes photographing the birds easier. The only issue is that the perches and backgrounds tend to be the same for all the birds. I hope to set up a bird blind in my yard soon so that I can change the perches and backgrounds with some frequency. For now, I’ll keep using the great facility at the park and continue to improve my collection of great Texas Birds.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 400mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/1000th of a second and the ISO set at 400. This is a single photograph processed in Lightroom and Nik Color Efex Pro.
