One of the items on my photography list for my trip to Buffalo, NY was to photograph the Buffalo Lighthouse at sunset. In scouting the location I realized that the lighthouse was not going to line up well with the sunset but I thought that the sunset colors would bleed over into the background. I was fortunate that they did as the clouds were non-existent in this area.
The Buffalo Lighthouse (aka Buffalo Main Light) is located at the mouth of Buffalo River/Erie canal. The octagonal-shaped lighthouse is constructed out of limestone and stands 60 feet high. It was activated in 1833 and deactivated in 1914. A new lens was installed in 1857 but later removed by the Buffalo History Museum (see the post from earlier this week). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
This image was taken with my Sony Alpha A7R II using my Sony 24-70mm f/4 Lens set on 70 mm. The camera was set on Aperture priority mode with the aperture set at f/22, shutter speed at 1.3 seconds and the ISO set at 100. This is a single image processed in Lightroom, and Nik Color Efex Pro.

Hi Terry, particularly I love lighthouses…. I think they represent some mistery and solitude…. But your picture , with the pink sky turns the lighthouse very nice almost inviting to go inside. One day I will paint one on canvas:)
