Roadside Flowers

My maternal grandparents loved the LBJ family and, like Lady Bird Johnson, my grandmother loved wildflowers. She loved them so much, that she wrote a poem about roadside flowers. I thought the poem would go well with one of the photos that I took at the LBJ Wildflower Center last week. Although not technically taken by the roadside, the flowers in the background (Texas Bluebonnets) and the Eastern Purple Coneflower adorn our roadsides throughout much of Central Texas in the spring. I found her views on their “usefulness” interesting. They were farmers and ranchers and probably thought that wildflowers could not put food on the table. She loved them nonetheless.

This image was taken with my Sony Alpha A7R II using my Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/7.1, shutter speed at 1/1250th of a second and the ISO set at 800. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.
